HTC recently forked out around a cool $300 million to obtain the Beats Audio brand as well as the technology that comes with it, and you can more or less tell that they are going to make full use of the brand to sell even more of their smartphones to the masses. After all, who knows that they might actually take the same route as Sony with the Walkman brand when it comes to handsets?

Beats Audio technology is a certainty in future HTC phones, seeing how such handsets have also doubled up as your portable media player these days. It is rather unfortunate that there cannot be any backwards integration for Beats Audio in older HTC handsets, so what’s an audio enthusiast supposed to do?

XDA forum member Virus decided that if you want to get something done right, do it yourself – which is why he managed to create a ROM for the HTC EVO 3D that will port over the Sensation XE’s Beats Audio integration. This ROM is all blood, sweat and tears, seeing it was built from ground up so that it will play nice with Sprint’s network. Just make sure your HTC EVO 3D is rooted beforehand.
